Direct Notice to Parents
Who we are
Tendril is an online literacy service operated by Neural Forge. We are directed to children under 13 in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (16 CFR Part 312).
What we collect from your child
- Birth month and year for neutral age assurance and tier assignment.
- A first name only, if they choose to set one (never a last name).
- Module progress and badges earned.
How we use it
- To deliver age-appropriate lessons and track progress.
- To communicate with you — the parent — about your child’s use.
What we never do
- Use your child’s data to train any AI model.
- Serve targeted advertising to your child.
- Sell or share your child’s data with data brokers.
- Retain data longer than necessary to deliver the service.
Verifiable Parental Consent
Before an account is created or saved learning data is collected from a user under 13, we require a parent or guardian workflow that creates a consent record, sends a review link to the parent email, requires a second confirmation step, and stores the consent status and notice version. The child account cannot be activated until consent is approved.
Freeform AI lesson chat is paused for under-13-capable tiers until the consent workflow and child-safe moderation controls are fully verified.
Your rights
- Review the information we have collected from your child.
- Delete your child’s information.
- Refuse to permit further collection or use of your child’s information.
- Revoke consent from the parent consent dashboard linked in consent emails.
