Section 1
The premise
Recording a meeting is easy; turning it into accountability is the hard part. AI is excellent at extracting the 'who said they'd do what by when' line — and prone to inventing owners and dates that were never actually agreed to.
What AI does well here
- Pull discrete action items out of a meandering transcript
- Tag each action item with an owner and due date when stated
- Distinguish a decision from a discussion
- Generate a 5-line summary that an absent person can act on
What AI cannot do
- Assign owners that weren't named in the meeting
- Infer due dates from vague phrases like 'soonish'
- Catch the action item agreed to in the parking lot afterward
