AI On A Low-End Chromebook

The Chromebook is built for cloud apps, which is exactly what most chat AI is. The catch is that low-end Chromebooks have skinny RAM and choke on tab sprawl. A few habits make them fly.

• Run only the AI tab, the doc you're working on, and one reference tab — close everything else
• Install your favorite AI as a Progressive Web App (PWA) so it runs in its own window
• Keep extensions to a minimum — every extension steals RAM
• Restart the device once a week, not just close the lid
• Pin frequently used AI tools to the shelf

Chromebooks update themselves, sandbox tabs, and back up to your account — that's a great match for rural life where one spilled drink can take down a laptop. AI in the browser is a well-fitted glove.
