Where AI fits in a science fair
A great science fair project still needs a real question, real data, and your real conclusions. AI can speed up the boring parts — finding background research, helping organize data, drafting parts of your poster. It cannot do the experiment.
The honest workflow
- 1Ask: What real question do I want to answer? (AI can help refine, not pick for you)
- 2Background research: "Summarize 3 published studies on [topic] for me" (Perplexity is great)
- 3Plan the experiment yourself, then ask AI: "What's a flaw in this method?"
- 4Run the experiment. Real data, real you.
- 5Analyze: paste your data, ask AI to suggest a chart type and check your math
- 6Write the conclusion in your own words. Ask AI to copy-edit.
