How AI Can Help You Turn a Big Article Into Short Notes
AI can shrink a long article into bullet points so you can study it faster.
Explorers · Research & Analysis · ~3 min read
The big idea
Reading a long article is a lot. AI can give you the main ideas in short bullets. But always read the article too — AI sometimes leaves out the cool parts.
Some examples
- 'Summarize this article in 5 kid-friendly bullets.' (paste article)
- 'What are the 3 main ideas in this paragraph?'
- 'Re-write this in 100 words for a 4th grader.'
- 'List facts I should remember from this for a quiz.'
Try it!
Find a kid news article. Read it once. Then ask AI to summarize it. Compare what you noticed vs what AI noticed.

Practice this safely
Try this with a low-stakes example and a trusted adult nearby. The goal is to notice how AI talks about summarizing, not to let it make the decision for you.
- 1Ask AI to explain summarizing in plain language, then underline anything that sounds uncertain or too broad.
- 2Give it one detail from "How AI Can Help You Turn a Big Article Into Short Notes" and ask for two possible next steps plus one reason each step might be wrong.
- 3Check notes against a trusted source, teacher, adult, expert, or original document before you use it.
