The big idea
AI can suggest books, articles, or websites for your topic. The catch: AI sometimes invents sources that do not exist. So you HAVE to check.
Some examples
- AI says: 'Try the book 'Volcanoes for Kids' by Jane Smith (2018).' You look it up — does it exist?
- AI says: 'Visit the National Geographic Kids volcano page.' Click the link — does it work?
- AI says: 'Read this scientific paper from 2022.' Search the paper title — does it come up?
- AI sometimes mixes real facts with made-up sources. Always verify.

Ask AI for 3 sources on any topic. For each, search the title in Google or a library catalog. How many were real? How many were made up? Sometimes the result will surprise you.
