Section 1
The line a 50-year-old shouldn't use anymore
'Responsible for managing a team of 12.' That line was modern in 2005. In 2026 it sounds like cost. The same achievement, reframed: 'Led a 12-person team that shipped X by combining domain expertise with [specific AI tool], reducing [metric] by Y%.' Same fact. Different decade.
The reframing formula
Real lines that work
- 'Designed prompt library for a 6-person legal research team; reduced average research turnaround from 4 hours to 35 minutes.'
- 'Trained 14 senior nurses on documentation AI; documentation time per patient dropped 22% with no patient-safety incidents.'
- 'Rebuilt monthly board package using GPT-4-class draft + my final edit; saved ~30 hours per month.'
- 'Spotted three hallucinated citations in AI-drafted memo by using domain knowledge from 12 years in [field]; established team's hallucination-check protocol.'
ATS reality
Most large employers still run resumes through an ATS that scans for keywords. Add a small 'AI Tooling' section near the top: Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, NotebookLM, Cursor, Zapier, n8n — whatever you actually use. Don't list things you don't. Recruiters do follow up on this section.
Key terms in this lesson
The big idea: the modern resume tells a story about leverage. Show the leverage — where your judgment plus an AI tool produced an outcome neither could alone.
