Spanish and French: Actually Talking with AI

You've been in Spanish 3 for a year and a half and you still panic when a waiter asks you a real question. The fix is talking, a lot, to someone patient. For the first time in history, that someone is available at 11pm for free.
Voice tools that work

- Speak: pronunciation-focused, tells you exactly which sound is off
- ChatGPT voice mode: unscripted conversation in any language
- Gemini Live: real-time back-and-forth, handles Spanish and French well
- Claude voice: good for written-then-spoken drills
Conversation drills that actually work
- 1Pick a scenario (ordering food, asking directions, a job interview)
- 2Ask the AI to play the other person in Spanish, and only Spanish
- 3Have the conversation; mess up freely
- 4At the end, ask for a correction list of your five biggest errors
- 5Do the same scenario again without the corrections in view
For Latin or Ancient Greek, the same tools work with a twist: pronunciation matters less, but AI is excellent at parsing a tricky sentence and explaining which case each noun is in. Claude and ChatGPT are both solid classicists.
