The big idea
Some teens think using AI to make a fake mean image of someone is 'just a joke'. It is not. Many states now have laws specifically criminalizing this — even for minors. Lives have been ruined.
Some examples
- Making fake nude images of a classmate: criminal in most US states. Felony in many.
- Making deepfake videos to harass someone: criminal harassment + civil lawsuits.
- Spreading AI-made fake quotes attributed to someone: defamation, possible lawsuits.
- Faking text messages from someone using AI to ruin their reputation: harassment, possible expulsion.
Try it!
If you ever see this happening (to yourself OR others), tell a trusted adult immediately. Document the evidence. The longer it goes on, the more damage. Speaking up helps everyone — including the kid doing harm who needs an intervention.
