Tap the little microphone
Inside the ChatGPT app, the Claude app, and the Gemini app, there is a little microphone button. Tap it and the AI can hear your voice. You can ask a question out loud, and the helper will answer back with a real-sounding voice.
Why voice is fun
- You can ask questions while you are walking or doing chores.
- You do not have to spell hard words.
- It feels more like talking to a friend.
- Great for practicing a new language — the AI can be your speaking partner.
The big three voice helpers
- ChatGPT Voice — natural and expressive, pauses like a real person.
- Gemini Live — super fast and can even be told to 'speak faster, I'm late for class.'
- Claude voice mode — a newer option on Claude apps, calm and clear.
When NOT to use voice
- In a quiet classroom or library — use text instead.
- When you want to copy the answer into homework — text is easier to scroll.
- When you are sharing private stuff — other people in the room can hear.
