Lesson 1011 of 1169
Never Give AI Agents Your Passwords
Don't give AI agents your secret passwords or money cards.
Explorers · Agentic AI · ~4 min read
The big idea
AI agents can act on your accounts. Never give them your real passwords or your parent's credit card.
Some examples
- Use a parent or teacher account if money is involved.
- Use a fake test account for trying agents.
- Never paste 'real' passwords into a chat.
- If AI asks for a credit card, stop and tell an adult.
Try it!
If AI ever asks for a password, close the chat and tell a trusted adult. Real secrets stay private.

Practice this safely
Try this with a low-stakes example and a trusted adult nearby. The goal is to notice how AI talks about secrets, not to let it make the decision for you.
- 1Ask AI to explain secrets in plain language, then underline anything that sounds uncertain or too broad.
- 2Give it one detail from "Never Give AI Agents Your Passwords" and ask for two possible next steps plus one reason each step might be wrong.
- 3Check passwords against a trusted source, teacher, adult, expert, or original document before you use it.
