Section 1
The big idea
AI makes mistakes — being kind and trying again works better than being mean.
Some examples
- If AI gives a silly answer, you can say 'Try again, please.'
- You can ask AI to explain why it gave that answer.
- Being mean to AI does not make it smarter — clear words do.
Try it!
Pretend a chatbot said '2+2=5.' Write a kind reply asking it to check its work.
What to do when AI gives a wrong answer
AI chatbots make mistakes, and that is normal. They do not feel hurt when they are wrong, but how you respond still matters — for your own habits and for getting better answers. When an AI gives a silly or incorrect answer, the most useful thing you can do is tell it what was wrong and ask it to try again using clearer words. For example, if AI says your favorite animal does not exist, you can say: 'I think that is wrong — please try again.' Staying calm and clear helps AI understand what you actually need. Being rude or typing angry words does not help — AI does not feel feelings, so it does not try harder when you shout. It just processes whatever words you give it. Getting frustrated is okay! But taking a breath and rephrasing your question calmly is the move that works. This patience practice is a skill that helps with people too. Asking kindly and clearly gets better results with humans and AI alike.
- Tell AI what was wrong using clear words: 'That is incorrect because...'
- Ask it to 'try again' or 'check your answer'
- If AI keeps being wrong, ask an adult or look it up in a book
- Remember: AI does not get better when you are mean — clearer words help more
