Section 1
The big idea
AI can chat about almost anything, but it can't send help. If there's a fire, someone is hurt, or you feel unsafe, call 911 or get a grown-up RIGHT AWAY. Skip AI in emergencies.
Some examples
- Fire? Get out and call 911.
- Someone hurt? Tell a grown-up now.
- You feel unsafe? Find a trusted adult.
- Don't waste time chatting with AI.
Try it!
Practice saying your full name and address out loud. You'd say this if you ever called 911.
What to Do Instead of Using AI in an Emergency
In a real emergency — fire, injury, someone feeling unsafe — every second matters. AI cannot call for help, cannot send an ambulance, cannot dispatch firefighters or police, and cannot physically help anyone. The only things that can actually help in an emergency are real people and emergency services. If you ever find yourself in an emergency, remember: get out if there's a fire, call 911 if you know your phone is available and you are safe enough to use it, or run to the nearest adult and tell them what's happening. Before an emergency happens is the right time to practice: say your full name and address out loud right now so you know you can say it clearly if you ever need to call 911. Also, know the names and phone numbers of trusted adults so you can reach them quickly.
- In an emergency: get to safety first, then call 911 or find a trusted adult
- AI cannot send help — only real people and emergency services can
- Practice saying your full name and home address out loud so you know it under pressure
- Know the phone numbers of 2-3 trusted adults by heart, not just in your contacts
