Section 1
The big idea
Your passwords belong to you and your family — never type them into AI chats.
Some examples
- Even if AI asks, do not share a password.
- If a chatbot says 'tell me your login,' close it and tell a grown-up.
- Real helpers — like your parents — never need your password typed into a chat.
Try it!
Make up a pretend password (do not use a real one!) and practice saying 'no' if asked.
Passwords and AI — why they never mix
A password is like a key to your house. You do not hand your house key to a stranger just because they asked politely. The same is true for passwords online. AI chatbots are software programs, not friends. They do not need your passwords to help you, ever. A chatbot that asks for a password is either broken, being misused by someone, or is not actually a real AI tool at all — it could be a trick to steal your information. Real AI tools are designed to help you with tasks like writing, research, or learning. They do not log you into websites or apps, and they do not need credentials to do their job. If you ever see a chatbot or a website pretending to be an AI tool that asks for a login or password, close the tab immediately and tell a trusted adult. Your passwords belong only to you, your parent, or the service you created the account with — no one else, and certainly not a chatbot.
- No real AI tool ever needs your password
- If something asks for a password, close it and tell an adult
- Passwords belong only to you and your parents — not even friends
- Use a strong, unique password for every important account
