Section 1
The big idea
AI can write words that sound caring, but it doesn't actually feel anything — humans who love you do.
Some examples
- If you're sad, hug a parent or call a friend before chatting with AI.
- AI doesn't remember you tomorrow — your family does.
- A pet listening on your lap is better than a chatbot for hard days.
Try it!
Make a 'people-first' list: name 3 humans (or pets!) you'd go to before opening an app.
Why Real Humans Are Better for Big Feelings
AI chatbots can sound very understanding. They say things like 'That sounds really hard' or 'I am sorry you feel that way.' Those phrases sound caring — but the AI is not actually feeling anything. It learned those words from millions of human conversations. It is pattern-matching, not empathy.
- Give you a hug or sit with you in silence.
- Remember your history and understand you over time.
- Actually feel worried or happy for you.
- Get help for you if you are in danger.
- Adapt to the way you need to be comforted right now.
This does not mean AI is bad. It just means AI has limits. If you are feeling truly sad, scared, or overwhelmed, please talk to a real person who cares about you — a parent, sibling, friend, teacher, or counselor. That connection is something AI cannot replace.
