The big idea
AI is not one single thing. There is AI that talks with you (chatbots), AI that draws (image AI), AI that hears and speaks (voice AI), and lots more. Each kind is good at something different.
Some examples
- Chatbots like writing stories and answering questions.
- Image AI can draw a dragon riding a skateboard.
- Voice AI can read your story out loud.
- Music AI can make beats and tunes.
Try it!
List three things you wish AI could help you do. For each one, write down which kind of AI you would pick.
Practice this safely
Try this with a low-stakes example and a trusted adult nearby. The goal is to notice how AI talks about chatbot, not to let it make the decision for you.
- 1Ask AI to explain chatbot in plain language, then underline anything that sounds uncertain or too broad.
- 2Give it one detail from "AI and Its Many Shapes: Chatbots, Art, Voice, and More" and ask for two possible next steps plus one reason each step might be wrong.
- 3Check image AI against a trusted source, teacher, adult, expert, or original document before you use it.
