The big idea
AI isn't new! Scientists started dreaming about it in the 1950s. The big leap to today's chat AIs took over 70 years of slow progress, big ideas, and lots of failed experiments.
Some examples
- 1956: scientists meet and name the field 'Artificial Intelligence.'
- 1997: a chess AI beats the world champion.
- 2016: an AI beats the world's best Go player.
- 2022: chat AIs like ChatGPT explode into homes everywhere.
