Terms to connect while reading
Your teacher asked where Madagascar is and half the class pointed at India. Geography is memorization, but memorization is way easier when you've actually 'been' somewhere, even virtually.
Section 1
Tools that make places real
- Google Earth with Gemini: fly to any place, ask what you're looking at
- ChatGPT voice mode: have a conversation about a country while you look at it
- Perplexity: fast answers about culture, climate, history
- Khanmigo: geography quizzes that explain why the answer matters
- NotebookLM: drop in a travel article, ask it to quiz you
Ask better questions
Don't just ask 'what is the capital of Peru.' Ask 'why is Lima on the coast when most capitals are inland?' That kind of question sticks because it's a story, not a flashcard.
The honest-learning line here is low-stakes, but real: a quiz about country locations is pointless if you just ask AI mid-test. Learn the map, use AI to make learning the map interesting.
