AI and Asking for Help from Grown-Ups
If something feels weird or scary, tell an adult right away.

The big idea
Sometimes AI says something confusing, scary, or just wrong. That's not your fault! When that happens, close the chat and go tell a parent, teacher, or grown-up you trust. They can help you figure out what to do next.
Some examples
- AI says something that gives you a yucky feeling — tell an adult.
- AI asks you for personal info — tell an adult.
- AI says something that hurts your feelings — tell an adult.
- AI tells you to keep a secret from your parents — tell an adult right now.
Try it!
Pick the grown-up you'd go to if AI said something weird. Tell them today: 'You're my AI helper grown-up!' so they're ready.
Practice this safely
Try this with a low-stakes example and a trusted adult nearby. The goal is to notice how AI talks about adults, not to let it make the decision for you.
- 1Ask AI to explain adults in plain language, then underline anything that sounds uncertain or too broad.
- 2Give it one detail from "AI and Asking for Help from Grown-Ups" and ask for two possible next steps plus one reason each step might be wrong.
- 3Check safety against a trusted source, teacher, adult, expert, or original document before you use it.
